Independence (day) from COVID- 19 BBQ.
If there is one thing that you are going to be hearing a lot of in the coming months is the term that this holiday or others are “different to previous years”. While that’s true, that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun with it.
The 4th of July is all about celebrating our independence day and that couldn’t be more profound right now. Sure, we are not looking at the red coats as the threat anymore, but there is still an enemy that is still just as annoying but doesn’t have a suave accent to make them tolerable.
You might not be able to have the huge party that you normally would, but hey, you can still do something. Here are some 4VID of July Ideas for your special BBQ.
Corona-Cocktails are a great way to reduce the stress of the COVID life. Plus, they have alcohol in them and there is alcohol in hand sanitizer so it MUST mean you are doing your part. Right? (Note: you can print the article to prove that drinking is doing your part. Legal Note: This is not legally binding so while you can print it off, don’t be dumb, because we won’t help you.)
Hand Sani-Martinis of 4th of July
NOT. DRINK. HAND. SANITIZER.
I’m not putting that because I think you would, but mostly because I think we’ve all had those days where we considered it. It doesn’t help that a lot of gin distillers are also making hand sanitizer and it smells so damn good.
So, what is the difference between a regular martini and a Hand Sani-Martini? Nothing. The name. And the ability to drink it before 12PM because you are trying to be hygienic. A small warning though, to many of these will mean you will most likely be “unhygienic” all over your shoes.
Ok, this one is an actual recipe. Sort of. So, the first thing you are going to want to do is to “sanitize” your BBQ with a good dose of beer. I’m not going to tell you that you should use Corona to do this, but they could probably use your dollar during these trying times of COVID- 19.
The actual hotdog or sausage that you use is completely up to your taste, but what makes it a Corona-Dog is the immune boosting additions that will also make the dog super tasty. Adding red bell pepper, some garlic and baby spinach to the grill when you are cooking the dogs will add so much flavor to this holiday staple. Want an extra taste kick that is also helping your gut fight back against all the nasty bugs in the air? Add some Turmeric to your mayo or ketchup for a flavor kick and immunity boost.
CO-DIP-19 for Independence (day) from COVID- 19 BBQ
The immunity boosting foods that are good for the Corona-Dogs are also great dips (BBQ sauce) for those pre-meal snacks. Spinach dips that have a lot of spinach and garlic won’t make you kissable but will keep you slightly healthier.
Crab dip can also be a crowd (or as many as legally allowed to be there) favorite, but shellfish is another immunity booster. Salsas that contain a little fruit like kiwis and papaya will also give you that healthy virus fighting goodness while adding some amazing tang to boring salsas. Yogurt is another good-for-you-food that makes the base for great dips like Tzatziki.
We know that this 4th July is going to be different, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun and enjoy. Sure, we might not get our independence (day) back from COVID-19 anytime soon but that doesn’t mean we can’t have good BBQ food, a few drinks, and to give it the biggest middle finger we can muster.
